1975
Great Gulf Group was founded in Toronto, Canada by Elly Reisman. The company's fundamental philosophy then - and now - was to build better-designed homes in communities that deliver lasting value, and to provide a superior level of service to its customers.
1981
Great Gulf Group introduced The Decor Center to offer home buyers more convenient selections and design choices.
1984
Great Gulf Resort Communities was formed to develop luxurious get-a-way destinations.
1989
Great Gulf Group grew from a regional homebuilder into an international group of companies with the introduction of Ashton Woods Homes in Dallas, Texas.

1990
Great Gulf Group expanded its homebuilding portfolio to include commercial construction with the formation of First Gulf Group.

 

The Houston division of Ashton Woods Homes was formed, marking a stronger foothold in U.S. residential homebuilding.
1992
Ashton Woods Homes entered the Atlanta market. Atlanta is now the U.S. corporate headquarters for Ashton Woods.


1993
The Great Gulf Group began developing land and residential and commercial projects in Denver, Colorado.
1997
Ashton Woods Homes created the Home Management Center as one of its signature design features.

To better service its customers, Ashton Woods Homes formed its own mortgage companies in Dallas and Houston. Atlanta opened the following year.
1998
Ashton Woods Homes received top honors from the Greater Houston Builders Association with the PRISM Grand Award for architectural design and merchandising.
1999
Ashton Woods Homes moved up to 40th place on BUILDER magazine's "Top 100 Builders" list.

The National Association of Home Builders honored Ashton Woods Homes with its first Gold award for outstanding design.
The Ashton Woods Homes unveiled its new Design Center in Dallas. It was named "Best Design Center" in the city.

Texas Association of Home Builders honored Ashton Woods Homes with the Texas Star Grand Award for its outstanding home designs, merchandising and marketing

2000
Ashton Woods Atlanta and Houston unveiled state-of-the-art Design Centers.

The Great Gulf Group of Companies entered the 21st Century as an international, fully-integrated group of companies that spans the entire real estate spectrum - from land acquisitions and assembly to the design and construction of thousands of single-family homes, town-homes and condominiums.

The National Association of Home Builders again recognized Ashton Woods Homes with a Gold award for Best Home Design. Ashton Woods Houston was named PRISM Grand Award Winner for the third consecutive year.

2001
Ashton Woods Orlando opened it's first community at The Lakes of Windermere
2002
Great Gulf Homes introduced 18 Yorkville, a 36 story tower condominium residence in the historic Young Street & Yorkville section of Toronto. Bringing new life and residential use to this classic section of Downtown Toronto.
2002
Ashton Woods Homes expanded its home building and development operations to Arizona.

Ashton Woods Atlanta received the "National Best of American Living" Award for it's first townhome community.
   
Great Gulf Homes received Toronto's "builder of the Year" Award from The Greater Toronto Home Builder's Association.
2002
Ashton Woods Homes introduced The Ashton Woods Power House - a new program designed to ensure an energy efficient and incredibly comfortable environment, day in and day out. All this adds up to increased value, durability and improved health. The positively powerful place.
2003
Ashton Woods Orlando received the Parade of Homes Award in 2003 and 2004.
2004
Ashton Woods Homes received the Greater Phoenix Homebuilder Association Award for the “Builder of the Year”.
2004
Ashton Woods Atlanta received the J.D.Power Award, “Highest in Customer Satisfaction with new Homebuilder’s in Atlanta”.
2005
Ashton Woods Houston opens their new Master Plan Community - Southern Trails.
2005
Ashton Woods Orlando opens Lakeside, its first condominium community.

Ashton Woods Homes expands its homebuilding and development operations making Tampa, Florida and Denver, Colorado its 6th and 7th Regions in the U.S.
