How To Prep Your Home for Holiday Guests

With the holidays drawing near, our thoughts turn to entertaining and the merriment of friends and family gathering together. While it’s a joy to host your favorite loved ones, let’s be honest —  it can also bring some stress. This is especially true if you feel like your guest quarters aren’t up to par.

Getting guest-ready doesn’t have to be an ordeal. With just a few small additions to your space, you can make your visitors feel like they’re staying in a five-star hotel. Try out these tips for getting your home ready for holiday guests.

1. Make Space to Unpack

Think of your guestroom as a plush hotel room. One of the small, but mighty conveniences hotels provide that most homes don’t: a luggage rack. A luggage rack can help guests get organized and make themselves at home. Bonus points if you clear out enough closet or drawer space for them to store their clothes.

2. Keep Guests Charged

Keep a charging outlet in a convenient place, like the bedside table or the bathroom countertop. An outlet that has both USB ports and regular outlets will allow visitors to charge multiple devices at once. If chargers feel like too much clutter, consider a lamp with an outlet or port in the base.

3. Frame the WiFi Password

Don’t make guests use their precious data. Instead, keep them connected by displaying your WiFi information in a frame. If you enjoy crafts and DIY projects, this is a great excuse to try your hand at calligraphy.

4. Give Guests Cozy Towels and Robes

Looking for a surefire way to make your guests feel pampered? Stock the guest bathroom with oversized, snuggly towels. And if you want to take your hosting to the next level, invest in unisex robes for visitors to lounge in.

5. Add a Convenience Basket

Include commonly forgotten travel items like toothbrushes and toothpaste, soap, shampoo, aspirin, eyemasks, a blow dryer, and feminine products. For a welcoming touch, you can add chocolates, tea, fuzzy socks or holiday-themed treats for your guests to enjoy.
