How did you get into interior design?

I was extremely lucky to be raised by a family that appreciated design, so I have always been interested in architecture and interiors. My first year of college, I struggled with which path to follow, but in the end, design was the only thing I could picture myself doing for the rest of my life. I feel so fortunate that I get to do something I love with such great people.

Which model home has been your favorite to design and decorate?

That is a hard question for someone like me — it’s like asking if I have a favorite child. I like to think that my favorite model is the one I am working on now; however, there are many projects over the years that stand out. A few of my recent favorites include The William model at Headwaters, The Harrison model at Cane Bay Plantation, The Connor and Traynor models at Weslyn Park, The Avalon model at La Cima, The Aubrey model at Sunterra, The Griffin model at Hills at Minneola, The Hathaway model at Westland Ranch and The Kiawah model at Village Club at Wescott.

Which room in a home is your favorite to decorate?

If I am doing a full model installation, it is probably the kitchen or primary bath. If I am doing a collection model it is the family room and primary bedroom.

Outside of design, what are your other hobbies and interests?

I love to travel and explore, read books, watch and play volleyball with my girls, hike and of course partake of great food and drinks.

Where do you find creative inspiration?

Just about anywhere. It can be in the color combination of flowers, architectural details in historic buildings or the bathroom of the last restaurant I went to. I am the type of person that will take the long way around if it means I will see something interesting, so I really don't think you can be over-inspired.

What’s your favorite Collection and why?

On the bolder side, my favorite is the Luxe Collection. The green cabinets are a beautiful and unexpected pop of color, but their tone can still be used as a neutral. You can also make it casual or more sophisticated based on your style. On the more neutral side, I would say Timeless. Classic white cabinets and subway tiles are never wrong.

How would you describe your own personal style?

I would say it is an inviting mix of classic and contemporary that is elevated, but always comfortable.

What are one or two key tips you’d give Ashton Woods homeowners for decorating their new space after move-in day?

Give your home time to speak to you. Live in it for a while before you decide on major new purchases or changes so you can be sure it will work best for you and your family.

Paint looks much darker on the walls than it does on the chip. When in doubt, go one step lighter than the one you like. And of course, remember that light can drastically change color as well, so be sure to paint several samples around your room to check throughout the day.
